2022 Chateau Dauzac ‘Aurore de Dauzac’

2022 Chateau Dauzac ‘Aurore de Dauzac’

Margaux

Château Dauzac’s second label is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Petit Verdot. Estate grown in Margaux. Aged 12 months in a mix of new and used barriques and French oak tanks.

Vintage Notes from the Winemaker: After an unusually mild winter and early budburst, the Gironde estuary protected the vineyard from April frosts. Mid-May
flowering began well but ended with storms, though the vineyard avoided hail damage. An intensely hot and dry summer followed, with drought becoming the main concern. August rain aided the veraison phase. Harvest took place under ideal conditions from September 5th to 26th. While drought reduced overall yields, the exceptional quality of the fruit positions 2022 to be remembered as one of Bordeaux's finest vintages.

"A year in which Dauzac excelled! Both Aurore de Dauzac and Labastide Dauzac are showing really well. Aurore is a bit deeper and structured with bright black fruit, berries, fine spices and crushed stones. Dusty tannins crumble nicely on the palate with full body and a long, powdery finish. Lots of energy. Already approachable thanks to its initial balance and the fine quality of tannins, but it will improve with more complexity in two to three years. Keep an eye on this."
