PERE VENTURA

Pere Ventura is a winery built on the belief that by doing things well, one can exceed the expected. Founded in 1991 in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, in the heart of Catalonia’s Penedès, it is the life’s work of a man who looked at his land and refused to accept the limits others had placed on it.

OVERVIEW

The energy of Barcelona—bold, creative, unapologetically alive—runs through everything Pere Ventura makes. The winery represents Catalonia at its most expressive: a culture proud of where it comes from and restless about where it is going. In a category that has long rested on its heritage, Pere Ventura breathes something new: precision, ambition, and a vibrancy that is unmistakably Catalan.

HISTORY

The Pere Ventura family has been part of the story of Spanish sparkling since its very beginning: in 1891, Pere’s great-grandfather became General Manager of the house that was the first to produce a sparkling wine from Spain using the traditional method. Out of deep respect for this lineage, Pere chose to build something worthy of expanding it.

That ambition found its fullest expression in 2011, when Pere acquired Can Bas—one of the most historically significant wine properties in all Penedès, a place where the soils carry over 2,700 years of winemaking memory. By securing Can Bas, Pere Ventura became the protector of a tradition older than the nation that surrounds it.

“I love my land. I love my origins. I love my roots. I feel a deep responsibility to where I come from, and I’m driven to leave a legacy built on doing things right. That commitment is something I strive to reflect in every bottle.”

PHILOSOPHY

The label on every bottle of Pere Ventura carries a name—a single person’s name—and that is not an accident. In a category dominated by large houses and centuries-old brands, Pere Ventura put his own name on the line. He was the first in his family to ask, plainly and without apology: why not me? Why not my land?

That question is what drives him—and now ignites the next generation at Pere Ventura. At a time when few others could see the potential of Spanish sparkling wine, Pere set out on his mission to exceed the expected. He built a winery from the ground up. He acquired the iconic Can Bas vineyard in 2011—accepting the stewardship of 27 generations, taking their history into his hands and committing to carry it forward with the same seriousness with which it had been passed down. In 2025, his son, also named Pere Ventura, joined the endeavor to further the legacy of their territory. Together, the Ventura family is proving what Penedès can become in the hands of those who believe in it completely.

Pere understood early that extraordinary is not a destination—it is a discipline. Perfectionism became his only compass: the single standard against which every decision in the vineyard and the cellar was measured. Not as an ideal to aspire to occasionally, but as the baseline from which every wine begins. It is this uncompromising approach—applied to every harvest, every blend, every bottle—that he sees as the only true guarantee of quality, and the only honest foundation on which a lasting legacy can be built.

Pere Ventura’s ethos is woven from the spirit of Catalonia itself—a region that has always insisted on its own identity, its own language, its own way. The creative electricity of Barcelona, the fierce pride of a culture that builds rather than waits, the conviction that quality is not a privilege of the established but a standard that can be earned—all of this lives in these wines. In practice, Pere Ventura crafts cava with the precision and ambition of the world’s finest sparkling wine producers, and presents it with the warmth and directness of someone who has nothing to prove and everything to share.

THE NAME ON THE LABEL IS A PROMISE: THAT THIS WINE WAS MADE BY SOMEONE WHO STAKED EVERYTHING ON THE BELIEF THAT IT COULD BE EXTRAORDINARY

IMPORTED PORTFOLIO OVERVIEW

Our Pere Ventura portfolio presents three expressions of the estate’s vision. At the pinnacle sits the Pere Ventura Gran Vintage Paraje Calificado Can Bas—sourced from centenary plots of the historic Can Bas estate, aged for more than 100 months, and produced only in exceptional vintages. The result: a sparkling wine from Penedès that stands amongst the finest in the world. Our second wine is the Pere Ventura Vintage, a single-vintage wine born from a dialogue between two great wine cultures: Xarel·lo, the soul of Penedès, and Chardonnay, the grape that defines Champagne, both grown and harvested at the estate. Completing the range is the Pere Ventura Reserva, a sparkling wine that expresses the nobility of Penedès through its three defining varieties: Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada. It is the estate’s most approachable expression: energetic, precise, and built for pleasure
