2022 Allegrini ‘Palazzo della Torre’
Palazzo della Torre is one of the estate’s versatile wines, with 30% of the blend made in the appassimento style. A blend of Corvina, Corvinone (dried), Rondinella, and a small percentage of Sangiovese. 35 year old vines. Aged in used barriques.
Vintage Notes from the Winemaker: The year 2022 was different from previous ones. It was already dry in February and March, leading to an early start of the season by about 20 days at the end of spring. The sun, excessive heat, and lack of rain made the situation critical, and only emergency irrigation made grape maturation possible. However, in early August, the rains that fell between August 6 and 13 provided relief, reversing the course of the season. The veraison phase accelerated, and almost all the grape clusters were able to ripen, also thanks to the increased nighttime temperature variation in the second half of August.
92 Points, James Suckling
"An intense wine with multilayered fruit, showing sour cherries, blackberries, plums, vibrant black pepper and nicely integrated vanilla. Chewy on the palate. Crisp, long acidity and firm, chalky tannins are well balanced with the fruit in the medium-bodied, savory finish. Drink or hold."
