2022 Chateaux Dauzac Gran Cru Classe
Château Dauzac’s flagship wine is a blend of Cabernet and Merlot from the estate’s best plots of gravelly hillside. Estate grown in Margaux. Organic. Aged 15 months in barrigues (75% new) and amphorae.
Vintage Notes from the Winemaker: After an unusually mild winter and early budburst, the Gironde estuary protected the vineyard from April frosts. Mid-May flowering began well but ended with storms, though the vineyard avoided hail damage. An intensely hot and dry summer followed, with drought becoming the main concern. August rain aided the veraison phase. Harvest took place under ideal conditions from September 5th to 26th. While drought reduced overall yields, the exceptional quality of the fruit positions 2022 to be remembered as one of Bordeaux's finest vintages.
96 points, James Suckling
"The brightness of fruit with blackcurrants, cedar and lead pencil is so vivid here. Medium- to full-bodied with integrated and polished tannins and focused fruit that remains fresh and tensioned. The solid center palate showcases density and balance. Seamless and really long. An exciting vintage from Dauzac. Drink after 2027."
